Newsflash

Most of the time, a horse has "monocular" vision. This means a different image is seen by each eye so that a horse is seeing two different pictures at the same time. A horse can also have "binocular" vision.

Hello Again!

Dave's latest report follows (12/06/09) Hey Marla,

Sonny is beginning to make significant progress.  What he is learning is becoming durable. It is lasting from lesson to lesson, with little necessity of "review". As I've mentioned, Sonny is beginning to lower his head, relax, and extend at a walk... not every time, but for longer and longer durations. Even when his ingrained habit of breaking into a tight trot occurs, he is continuing to carry his head low. When he is checked in his forward motion, he is still keeping his head low. He is also becoming light and responsive. When I ride him with one hand it is an indicator of his being "off the bit" to the extent that he can be ridden with a loose rein. For the majority of today, I rode him with one hand. As you know, Sonny has not been ridden for a number of days.  For him to pick up today as readily as he did is very encouraging. Dave
