Most of the time, a horse has "monocular" vision. This means a different image is seen by each eye so that a horse is seeing two different pictures at the same time. A horse can also have "binocular" vision.

Tues. 01/19/10-Introduction to Today's Equine Industry-An introduction into the current equine industry and some of the issues that it faces. Presented by: Monty McInturff, DVM and DeWayne Perry, County Director, UT Ag Extension

Tues. 01/26/10-Health-Discussion includes vaccination programs, parasite control, first aid, common diseases, and foot and dental care. Presented by: Tony Kemmons, DVM, Elizabeth Maddox, DVM, and Mark Smith, DVM.

.Mon. 02/01/10-Nutrition-Interactive discussion of the equine digestive system, its nutrient requirements, forages and effective feed management. Presented by: Dr. Bridgett McIntosh, Assistant Professor, UT Extension Horse Specialist.

Tues. 02/09/10-Genetics and Selection-Topics covered will include basics of breeding, color genetics, and equine conformation and selection. Dr. Dave Whitaker, Director, Public Service-Horse Science, MTSU.

Tues. 02/16/10-Reproduction-A comprehensive discussion of stallion, mare, and foal management, anatomy, and care. Presented by: Nathaniel Wright, DVM and Matthew Delisle, DVM

Tues. 02/23/10-Behavior and Training-An introduction to equine behavior; safe handling of horses; trailer safety, selection, and tow vehicle selection and maintenance will be introduced with a discussion on safety following. Presented by: Steve McNeil, Extension Agent, Sumner County.

Tues. 03/02/10-Farm Management-An introduction to running a horse farm effectively and efficiently with special emphasis on safe housing, fencing, and pasture and manure management. Presented by Mark Wooten, DVM

Tues. 03/09/10-Equine Business Management-Equine business management basics are introduced including record keeping, financial management, and tax laws .. Equine law will also be discussed including liability laws and other legal issues re1ated to the horse industry. Presented by: Lynda Hill, Attorney.
